Dr. William Basri has been a member of the medical staff at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Ocean Medical Center since 1993. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College in 1984. Dr. Basri graduated from the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in 1989. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Basri became board certified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (the study of liver diseases) in 1993. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Basri has taught medical residents at Jersey Shore University Medical Center for more than 15 years and enjoys a close working relationship with the teaching faculty at the hospital. Dr. Basri has a special interest in the prevention of gastrointestinal cancer. He strongly believes in the judicious use of endoscopic procedures to detect cancer in an early and potentially curable stage. In addition, he stresses the importance of good nutrition and supplemental vitamins for cancer prevention.
Dr. Basri likes to spend his leisure time with his family. Boating is a particularly enjoyable activity that he shares with his wife and three children.
